Public Notice of Accreditation renewal

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy (UPLC) is pleased to announce it is applying for renewal of accreditation. A public comment period is now open.

UP Land Conservancy was first awarded accreditation in 2017.  Accreditation renewal takes place every five years.  This renewal process requires an independent, third-party analysis and assessment of UP Land Conservancy to ensure we are meeting the highest national standards for perpetual land conservation and stewardship.  The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation.  It is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence.  Each accredited land trust completes a rigorous third-party review process and joins a network of organizations united by strong ethical practices. UPLC is proud to be a part of this trusted network of land trusts who have demonstrated fiscal accountability, strong organizational leadership, sound transactions and lasting stewardship of the lands they conserve.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how UP Land Conservancy complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
